If you live in Virginia, you know that fall in our state is positively breathtaking! The weather turns comfortably cool and the leaves become a collection of stunning colors. You don’t need an excuse to take a scenic drive and make special new memories. Enjoy the most beautiful season in Virginia by visiting one of the many a-MAZE-ing corn mazes and pumpkin patches in your area! Find your perfect maze with these suggestions:
Great Country Farms Corn Maze
Great Country Farms hosts an outstanding Apple Harvest festival that includes wagon rides, apple picking, award-winning apple cider donuts, and so much more. Sample freshly pressed cider and learn how it is produced, enjoy live music, marshmallow roasting, pig races, and the “Stories from the Stars” corn maze, which will teach you about the constellations of the Zodiac! This is the ultimate Fall Harvest experience.
Yoder’s Farm Corn Maze
In Virginia, the name Yoder reminds us of yummy foods and handcrafted goodies. Their corn maze is no different, featuring a unique theme and design every year. You can try to complete this challenging maze during the day, or you can take that challenge to the next level after dark. Don’t forget to use their Corn Maze app to find out if you can compete with those on the leaderboard! Hay rides and a pumpkin patch add to the charm of a visit to Yoder’s.
Back Home on the Farm Corn Maze
Harrisonburg’s Adventure Farm stays true to the nature of the “Friendly City” by celebrating fall with a new, community-focused theme each year. This may be the ultimate fall festival, featuring a long list of activities for kids of all ages. Enjoy a pumpkin patch that includes more than 60 pumpkin varietals, pig races, a petting zoo, putt-putt golf, climbing walls, and even a 60-foot slide! Spend an afternoon in the corn maze, and then settle in for a private campfire with family for a perfect autumn outing!
Berkeley Plantation Corn Maze
Just outside of Richmond, the Berkelely Plantation is worth a visit in the fall simply for its beautiful autumn gardens and river shore. The plantation also features a corn maze, and admission includes a free pumpkin to take home! Children can enjoy scavenger and nature hunts that are fun and informative, and this is a prime picnic location. Bring the whole family for a fantastic fall day!
Liberty Hills Farm Corn Maze
The largest corn maze in Virginia covers 34 acres at Liberty Mills Farm in Somerset. The maze offers four rails of varying difficulty, allowing you to choose the level of challenge and the amount of time you would like to spend in the corn maze. Attempt the maze in the daylight or up your game with a nighttime challenge (bring your flashlight!). An eight-acre pumpkin patch features more than 40 different varieties of pumpkins – there is sure to be a pumpkin for everyone!
Temple Hill Farm Pumpkin Patch
Come for the GIANT corn maze and bring the whole family for all the wonderful Autumn Extras! Pick your own pumpkin, enjoy a wagon ride, let the kids meet the farmyard animals, and even learn how to rope cattle! There are hill slides, larger-than-life “jumping pillows”, yard games, pumpkin cannons, food trucks, playhouses, and a “cornbox” (like a sandbox, but filled with corn).
Crab Orchard Corn Maze & Pisgah Pumpkin Patch
Southwest Virginia is home to the Crab Orchard Museum, a historic farm that includes a three-acre corn maze (and options for every age). Take a ride in the hay wagon to view the historic property after you finish the maze. On Friday and Saturday evenings, visitors are allowed to wander through the maze in the dark for an extra challenge!
