Take Your Dog for a Walk in Daleville

Take Your Dog for a Walk in Daleville

One of the best things about living in Daleville is all the hiking and walking trails waiting for you and your dog to explore! Daleville put you and your dog at the center of a vibrant pet-friendly community that includes dog parks and trails with your dog in mind. Here are a few of our favorite spots to get you out of the house and walking with Fido!

Daleville is located conveniently near several beautiful natural parks and trail systems. Near the Blue Ridge Parkway, you can access Mill Mountain Park. The park spans 568 acres and includes 10 miles of trails, allowing you and Fido to get out into the wilderness and really explore. Carvins Cove Natural Reserve offers even more adventure opportunities, covering 12,000 acres and filled with over 60 miles of trails. To discover even more of the amazing park in our area, visit the Interactive Park Map.

Get a view of the entire Roanoke Valley by hiking to the top of Buzzard’s Rock at the Read Mountain Reserve. The Reserve features five miles of trails through lovely, scenic forest, and the 2-mile hike to the summit of Read Mountain will give you a view of the Valley you won’t soon forget. The 243 acre Reserve is a great place to reconnect with nature and explore the wilderness with your pup.

Dog Trails near your Daleville ApartmentFor endless trail adventures, pack up your pooch and hit the Appalachian Trail, easily accessible from several points near Daleville. The AT is a 2,190-mile-long footpath that has been traveled by hikers and sightseers for nearly a century. The trail winds through the Blue Ridge and offers a wide variety of opportunities for you and your pup to enjoy the great outdoors.

If you and your pup prefer a little time off-leash, there are several dog parks in the area that cater to the different needs of different dogs. Some dog parks offer separate areas for small dogs and puppies who might be overwhelmed by the energy and size of larger dogs. Other parks offer features like a pet fountain where your dog can safely get a drink. Plan an adventure with your dog and enjoy all that Daleville has to offer you and your best friend!
